Infectious disease is one of the diseases caused by microbes, including bacteria. Staphylococcus epidermidis and Escherichia coli are gram-positive gram-negative bacteria that cause infectious diseases. The selection medicinal plants as an alternative solution effective way reducing resistance Based on empirical data, herbal with antimicrobial potential red ginger (Zingiber officinale var rubrum). This research aimed to determine inhibition test Epidermidis due phytochemical compounds contained in leaves which serve antibacterial. Through this experimental laboratory research, a crude drug was extracted using n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, methanol solvent. screening results n-hexane extract showed contain alkaloids terpenoids; chloroform contains alkaloids, steroids, tannins; acetate flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins. Chloramphenicol Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) were used positive control negative respectively. Inhibition obtained from four extracts, extracts three different concentrations.The greatest against bacteria, namely at concentration 20% chlorform large 18,90 mm. Meanwhile, Coli inhibitory power 17,84 mm zone classified strong category inhibit growth .The One Way ANOVA data analysis (p less than 0.01) confidence level 99%.
